It was a very busy shift in the Emergency Department. My colleague in her kind heart offered to cannulate a 12 year old child who had a severe rheumatic disease. I was then with her and asked should she needed a hand, she told me that she was fine. I then proceeded to do other clinical tasks.

My colleague went into the patient's room. There was something in me that tells me to go inside and asked if she again needed a help. I went and followed her after few minutes. I knocked the door, and went in and found her having difficulty after her first attempt. I asked again, if she needed my help. She was at that time trying to obtain some bloods, and managed to obtain two sample tubes and then the vein collapsed. She then told me that the child had a very tiny veins. I told her, "I can see that."
She proceeded to take all the cannulation tray away. She left the room with me. She was sorting out her rubbish when I said to her should she liked me to try. She reiterated that she had tiny veins but she welcomed me with hesitation. There was something in me that would like to do it. Hence, I prepared all my cannulation paraphernalia and prayed silently. I prayed, "Lord, You said, those who believe in You will never be put to shame." And so, I said, "Lord, I believe in You and I know You will never put me to shame." Then, I went to see again the 12 year old child, who was by then, was quite hesitant for me to try again. But then explained the importance of the procedure, she agreed.
I cannulated the left hand of the patient smoothly, with no problems. It glided through as if the intravenous cannula had eyes! I managed to take all samples required for this child suffering from severe rheumatic disease. The Word of God said in Romans 10, 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.” They were all amazed that I managed to do it. Truly, God will never put to shame all those who believe in Him!
The miracles of God happen everyday :)
